Classes

We have a varied fitness class schedule, with over 30 classes a week, taught by fully qualified and experienced teachers - there’s something for everyone! We have a range of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) classes, indoor Cycle, Body Conditioning, Circuits and more, that will help you improve your fitness and build strength. Most classes suit any level with options available so you can work at the right level for you and if equipment is used and it’s new to you then we’ll show you how to use it safely.

We offer a choice of Over 60s classes - Keep Fit and Yoga - designed for those that may need to adapt their exercise for mobility reasons. 

There are also mat-based classes to help bring balance to the body, including Fitness Pilates and a range of Yoga classes from Beginners Yoga to Intermediate/Vinyasa-style Yoga.

Booking Your Class

It’s important that you book your space for each class, you can call 01422 883023 or members with an active Class Membership can book via the MemberMe app.   
Classes can be booked up to a week in advance and please remember to cancel your class in good time if you know you won’t be able to attend.

The MCC Gym

We have a fully equipped gym with cardio machines and weights equipment, some of which are wheelchair accessible. Our gym is a friendly accessible space for sensible users, whether experienced or a novice.

On becoming a member you will receive a full induction to ensure that you are both safe on all of the equipment and confident to use it. 

New members can get a free gym programme designed by one of our trained gym staff who will work with you to define your exercise and fitness goals, whether it’s to improve fitness, lose weight, tone-up or train for an event. Our staff are available to give you on-going support throughout your fitness journey.

Youth Gym Sessions

Supervised sessions for our youngest members to ensure they are safe in the gym. If you are 12 - 14 years old, you can ONLY use the gym unaccompanied during the following times:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 3.30pm - 5.30pm

Saturday 9am - 12pm

Or, you can come to the gym outside of these times with a responsible adult gym member.

Build your confidence (and strength) in the gym!

Our 3-week course is designed to help you feel more comfortable in the gym environment, get the most out of the equipment and support we have on offer. Meeting like-minded people is an added bonus!

The Gym

Cycle 30/45

Indoor cycling for 30 or 45 minutes. A great cardio-vascular work out set to great music. Make the class your own by adjusting the resistance on the bike, so all levels welcome.

Cycle Body Blast
A high-intensity mixture of exercises both on and off the bike that will improve cardio fitness and muscle strength.

HIIT Classes

HIIT Circuits
High Intensity Interval Training using exercises to work the entire body.
HIIT classes consist of different exercises performed in short bursts, designed to increase heart-rate and accelerate fat-burn therefore improving fitness and aiding weight-loss.

HIIT Strike
High Intensity Interval Training with martial arts inspired exercises. 
HIIT classes consist of different exercises performed in short bursts, designed to increase heart-rate and accelerate fat-burn therefore improving fitness and aiding weight-loss.

10:10:10
High Intensity Interval Training exercise with 10 mins of cardio, 10 mins of general toning and 10 mins of core work to finish.

Yoga

Beginners Yoga
Learn the basics of yoga - standing and seated poses, sun salutations & balances. Enjoy the benefits of the practice, including improved flexibility, strength and learning how to use the breath.

Intermediate Yoga
A stronger yoga class for those with a little more experience. Classes are designed to build towards a challenging pose or work on a certain muscle group, usually using Vinyasa yoga to flow in and out of poses.

All Levels Yoga
A mixed level class, all are welcome. Each class is different, flowing in and out of classic yoga poses, always incorporating the breath and aiming to stretch, strengthen and bring back balance to the body and mind.

Chair Yoga
Chair yoga is a gentle, slower-paced yoga practice, all done seated. This is an accessible class and is ideal for those who have limited mobility or energy, chronic conditions or disabilities - or are recovering from illness. A typical class will include movements and postures - all of which are done seated and can be adapted as necessary for each individual - as well as more traditional practices such as breathing exercises and meditation/mindfulness, with the aim of supporting both good physical and mental wellbeing.

Full Body Conditioning

A lower-impact class using a range of exercises including aerobics, floor work, weights and resistance training, aimed to improve overall fitness.

Over 60s Classes

Over 60s Yoga
Designed to improve flexibly, strength and balance, incorporating the breath throughout. In this class participants can use a chair to give support where needed in the stronger classic yoga poses and balances.

Over 60s Keep Fit
Age-appropriate exercises for those that want to keep coming to the gym for longer and stay active. All exercises are given with options so that you can adapt the work to suit you and any mobility issues.

Pilates

This is a low impact mat-based class open to all. Incorporating classic Pilates techniques, exercises aim to strengthen the core and spinal column, helping to improve posture. 

Circuits Classes

Circuits
A range of timed exercises with short rest periods, designed to improved cardio-fitness, help to build strength and aid weight-loss.

Functional Fitness
A high impact and challenging class consisting of strength and cardio exercises.

Kettlebell Fitness

This class mixes cardio and strength work with short, sharp moves using a kettlebell. Using the weight that’s right for you and building it up with practice. This class will help to shape muscles and burn calories.

Boxing Fitness

This popular class incorporates partnered pad-work where you’ll be taught a range of boxing moves, all done to motivating music. It will improve your fitness, strength and coordination. All levels welcome.

Ab Blast

A fun 30-minute class designed to tone, build and strengthen the core muscles, including floor routines, fast-paced exercise and full-body stretches.
